Projects and Community Support
Annual Auction
The club has held the annual auction for the past 29 years. The auction is a community event and is dependant on the local community for support. Community residents either donate goods or auction their goods on consignment. Many residents as well as the auctioneers also share their time make the auction a success. The local businesses support the auction with goods for sale as well as gift certificates for their services. The businesses also purchase advertising space in a brochure that is distributed with the PennySaver.
In addition to the auction, the club also sells bar-b-que chicken halves. Breakfast is served during the morning of the auction. Hamburgers, hotdogs, french fries, soup and drinks are available for lunch. Baked goods are for sale all day.
This is the main fund raiser for our club. The proceeds are used for community projects.
Golf Tournament
The club has sponsored an annual Golf Tournament for the past 16 years. The tournament is supported not only by the golfers but by the local community. Local businesses provide sponsorship and merchandise to be awarded for door prizes. Keim Chevrolet, Paradise and Lancaster, sponsors a hole-in-one contest by providing a car for the prize. In addition to refreshments and door prizes, a dinner buffet is served to complete the day’s festivities.
Food Stand
The club provides a food, drinks and pastries for the Lancaster Hunting and Fishing Show held at the Farm and Home Center twice yearly. Scrambled egg and ham muffins, hot and cold sandwiches and hotdogs are served. Soups are provided with Chicken Corn soup being the favorite. Home made pastries are supplied by the spouses.
Community Support
Our club is proud to help lend assistance to people and organizations in the community who are in need. We also take pride in honoring a local resident each year who has demonstrated a genuine interest in bettering the community with the Sertoma Service to Mankind Award. An annual award recognizes an officer in the local East Lampeter Township Police Department for outstanding service.
