Silver Mine Memorial Trail
Silver Mine Park Memorial Trail
The Park & Recreation Board started in 2007 is overseeing the memorial trail at the park. This will start near the butterfly garden and run southward towards the peninsula on both sides of the trail. Placement will be determined by the Park & Rec Board. Low growing trees must be placed under or near the electric line. Canopy “taller” trees can be placed elsewhere along the trail.
If you would like to donate a tree and a bronze plaque in memory a loved one, please contact the township office at 464-2322. Information required of you will be:
(1) Exactly what you want the plaque to say. The bottom line will say what type of tree it is. Maximum lines for you to use are five (5). Minimum is two (2) lines. Cost is $64.00 for two lines. Each added line cost $8.00 more. You will also pay for the plant name line.
(2) Whether you want a canopy tree for approximately $100.00 or a small tree starting at approximately $45.00. Costs will vary from year to year.
The total paid to the Township would include:
(1) $30.00 for the concrete marker and the mounting of the plaque flush with the ground on the concrete marker.
(2) The cost for the canopy tree or small tree and the planting of it.
(3) The cost for the plaque.
Orders are taken for the spring. There will be another order placed next fall depending on the species that are available at that time. The Park & Rec Board will determine the species.
Susan Bleacher of Charles Snyder Funeral Home, Inc. will be coordinating the plaque, the mounting, and concrete marker. When you place your order, you will be asked to call her for specifications of the plaque. Give the township your plant order.
Completions of the order depends on when it is ordered, the number of orders, weather, and time to plant and mount the plaque, etc. These will not be under the township’s control but will be done within the season.
