Helpful Hints #2
Helpful Hint 2 – Post and Page Passwords: When you are working on your site, ONLY designate a post password or a Page Password if the information is not to be accessed by the general public. Password protected areas of your site can only be opened after the viewer enters a password.
These are examples of some types of pages/posts you would want to be password protected:
¨ Seeking comment on a meeting agenda from committee members, but you expect the agenda to change before it is published for public comment.
¨ You need to get a message to all members of your group – but the public does not need to know. i.e. “Due to Sally’s hammertoe surgery, we will be meeting in her recovery room at St. Bunions on Friday, May 10th, at 10 am."
¨ Your Group wants to post pictures of a birthday party for your founding member and longtime leader, Earl Grey. Mr. Grey does not mind others in the Fraternal Order of Milky Tea Drinkers Club seeing the pictures of him singing the praises of decaffeinated English Breakfast, but he would rather his employer not see the pictures.
If you do use a password; the password protected areas of your site should be available to your membership in accordance to the rules of information governing your group, and remember that everyone with access to the password can see the posts and pages that are protected by the password.
